hi gang

does anyone have the same bike as me please?

i've been asking around for over 12 months now and knows where the slef cancel turn signal relay fixes to the bike please? 27010-1016
by a process of emination i've narrowed it down to the right side of the battery box, it's fixed on with a little bracket 11034-1967.

if any one needs a colour schematic i've a large one here!
just email me. i've found a workshop manual and it's mint!

many thanks for your help! we all help each other!

oops i've typed the question incorrectly, so sorry!

what i thought i typed was this. i've been asking around for 12 months and NO ONE KNOWS exactly where the self cancel signal relay unit 27010-1016 fixes to the bike.

what i did was to see where the unit fixes to the main harness and then see what is located for its fixing.
to the right side of the battery, maybe!

if any biker out there could advise me, i will offer my body in gratitude!...

many thanks for reading my questions buddies.

regards

angie

If it is anything like the one on the KZ1000s,it is a small black box aabout 2-3 inches square that fits under the battery box.It is marked with Self Cancel Relay or something like that.It "reads" the electric speedo and counts the flashes-about 15-20 seconds or so after a turn,it is supposed to turn the signal off.Unfortunately, mine doesnt work and since it is a PITA to get the battery box off,I just turn mine off by hand.Good luck.BJ

I've an H4 ('83), but the H4 Manual is really the H1 Manual with supplements for each year thereafter.

The manual shows a pic of right side under-cover area with two cylindrical relays mounted with the circular bottom towards the center and two flat male leads off the outside end. The one toward the rear is the Flasher Relay, while the one towards the front is the Turn Signal Relay. They are adjacent to each other, just below the top frame rail and above the ?Voltage Regulator down lower.

The wire leads are Brown and Orange/Green.

I can upload the manual page as a scanned image if you need it. The pic isn't good enough to see how it actually mounts, if that's the issue. Pages 245-246 for reference.

OK, wups, I noticed a "Turn Signal Control Unit" addition, along with a "Distance Sensor" in the headlight housing, in the 1981 Supplement to the Manual. Page 276-278. At the very end, it states "Note: The Turn Signal Control Unit is located in front of the battery tray".

thanks for your reply.

the flasher relays are different parts to the 'self cancel unit'.

many thanks for your message though!

i've the OEM workshop manual here and it doesn't show anything about the turns cancel unit!..

thanks again

hi

thank you for your reply!

it's not the same part.

the part that goes under the battery box is the reserve lighting unit. if your lights fail, a reserve lighting system takes over and keeps you safe!..

you've haven't seen my bod!.. it's (.)(.)<-- wow!

thanks again

Replied by Motor Head on topic kz750 ltd h2 1981 self cancel signal relay unit
I think that its in Front of the battery box, between it and the airbox.
But have you checked the solenoid in the turn signal switch?
On the handlebars? Its whats the more likely to fail, unless something is missing or disconnected.
This has a W/G wire coming from your lost control unit, supply voltage to actuate the solenoid. You should see a voltage here after the signals are on and the bike has traveled say 50 feet, oh sorry, 18 meters, or so. You can disconnect this wire in the headlight bucket and supply voltage to it to see if it will push the switch back. The ground for the solenoid is where the switch clamps to the bars, if you take the switch off and look you will see the mechanism in the corner.
You have a working electric speedo? Then you can check the distance sesor signal @ the control unit, when found, L/G and R wires, with the front wheel off the ground spin it and you should see something like 6 volts.

hi motor

many thanks for your reply buddy!

i think we're on different subjects here!

i know where the self cancel unit connects on the main harness! i've rewired the whole bike, first time ever!

the problem i've is where does the self cancel unit acually bolt to the bike? i can't find a bracket anywhere. i've asked on ebay, the old OEM online shops etc.
no one has part number 11034-1967. i've now made one.
and clip it to the side of the battery, where it is located too!

many thanks

angie

I searched my photos and don't have a good shot of it. I've attached one sans battery and air box, but still can't pick it out. You may see something I can't.

btw, as I'm sure you know, those flashers I mentioned above are on the left side, not right. I was confused, as I do now more and more. :silly:

Can't seem to get the image file to display.
What am I doing wrong? Did it upload? Or, can I not host image files here?
