Hello,
Im having issues getting this bike started so far i have checked a few things but i feel something is missing,
1- fuel is getting to carbs
2- Coils tested through shop both are working
3- starter button is working
4- starter is working
5- wires all seem to be fine
6- ?? underneath battery box there is a Silver box with fins on it not exactly sure of what this is for, beside this box there is nothing and from the clymers manual it is showing a black box bolted on with wires beside that silver box???????

also behind the right side cover im missing something there aswell there a to female connectors on is red or orange the other is green/red or green/orange

any ideas im stuck thanks for all the help
Rob

first thing is to check compression.

check timing advancer.

You didn't say if it has been sitting a long time. If so, the whole fuel system needs flushing and the carbs need cleaning.

yep there should be an igniter under there as well as a reserve lighting device (at least my 82 CSR has one.I have a brand new igniter that I will sell u cheap or u can install a DYNA S ignition module and u will have no need for the igniter.bj

As you sit on the seat, on the right side of the engine under a CD sized cover should be where if the bike has conventional ignition points. If electronic, this would be where the pick up (pulsing coils would be.

Post back and let us know what you've got.....

Ok one more try at this. I still think u should replace all ur fuses.BUT,try this: Take the red(hot) wire off ur battery.Take the 2 screws out of ur fuse block and turn the block as far up as u can get it and look underneath. It may be that ur fuse block is corroded underneath as that is where all the wires connect. If so,spray with electrical contact cleaner, make sure the fuse block screws are also sprayed with claeaner, replace the fuses, clean the fuse contacts and reassemble.see what happens.bj
