Still discerning on the 2 volt drop but "Across the battery while running 4,000 rpm's 13.5v" is good...

In case you haven't seen this, here's how the jetting interacts and over laps each other throughout the rpm range...

If choke circuits are working/not hanging up and pilot screws are adjusted to spec.... may be time for some jetting changes...

This is where the Gunson Color Tune would come in handy... You'd be able to see if you're running too rich and not able to adjust for leaner ops...

Good trouble shooting tool to have as well as tuning aid...

I had the same "Black Sooty Plugs" symptom when I first got my bike a few years ago.

I installed the "Coil Re-powering" mod and the symptom disappeared immediately. Many, many members have got their rides back on the road with the help of this mod.

True, this does not hunt down the eliminate high resistance point fault.. but first-things-first, ride.

My .02 cents

I put the Denso's in, went about 8 miles and pulled one, and sure enough black and sooty (except #2, it's ran good from the start.) Next step is going thru the diagram Patton posted and check one thing at a time. After the secong time of cleaning all the connection I had 11.7v going to the coils. Can't understand while it had dropped back to 10.4v It's funny tho. For the first few mile the bike runs like new.
