Anyone have a pic of the stock advancer?
I think I have an aftermarket one that doesnt quite fit right... its really tight on the pin, and doesnt sit flat/sorta pulls to one side when fastened hard.
Its a little off center and seems to wobble slightly underway. it doesnt cause problems, so far, but who knows...
or if anyone has one, I'd be willing to purchase if its mint!
Cheers.

Searching ebbaayy for 21148-1020 GOVERNOR-BREAKER from the Kaw diagrams....
KZ1000 POLICE 1000 ELR 1100 GPZ SPECTRE ADVANCE BREAKER
OK Cool. Nice pics there...
Mine looks exactly like that, with no timing marks at all on the other side. Guess that was because they came with a factory set timing electronic ignition.
Weird how mine fits so poorly though... Its off center and wobbles... really annoying.
Anyone have any ideas???

That company was "TEC" that made them. I think they made some for other brands too, probably Suzuki, maybe someone got a similar one from another brand???
Do you have a photo you could post?
is yours the star racing unit if it is they do fit very tightly. as near as i can tell it is to allow more accurate ignition timing.
I could post a photo, but it would look exactly like the pictures in H1Vindicator's link
Guess its the stock one...
The backside of it that comes into contact with the crank end is not flat. Its sorta convexed towards the center bolt hole. Is this normal? Doesnt seem so.
The whole unit, when held upright in my hand looks like it was manufactured by some drunken 12 year old. Its all crooked and no part of it is parralel with the other side. The whole thing is A-symetrical no matter how you look at it!

The end of the crank is what it mounts to. It should be flat, not convex.

Sounds like crash damage then. That's very common to get destroyed if the bike goes down on the right side. You should still have writing on it though, and the "TEC" logo.

It still has the "TEC" and seems origional.
The crank end is nice and flat, its the advancer end thats convexed and "off"ish.

Sorry, when I said " it should be flat", I meant the advancer end, that mates with the crank, should be flat.

My KZ750H ('82) and damage on the right side. Knocked the cover off. The advancer still worked but also wobbled a bit from side to side as the engine ran. It wobbled enough that I was afraid the point on the advancer would smack the little bar in the pickups! I took it apart and found that the long bolt that held the advancer to the crack was bent. Bought a new bolt at Napa (a high grade one) and it spun smooth again!
Thats what I figured I would do. Got a new bolt and some nice new screws and lock washers for my Dyna S plate, but when I tucked everything back in there the advance was still about 2mm off center when turning.
If it doesn't come into contact with the pickups, and the advance while riding is crisp, should I really be worried???
