Lithium Phosphate batteries- experiences?

I have reached a point in my build that I need to start planning for a battery. I stumbled across this battery pack carbon-speed.com/prod.htm . If it's something that would start our bikes, It would be a great way to save space for those of us with a monoshock coversion and limited battery locations. I'm skeptical though- anybody have any experience with this battery technology?

I'm pretty sure that the WSBK teams use these batteries to cut down on weight. I remember that last year the Hondas had a hard time with re-starts. One and done. I don't claim to understand what type of charging system that they run on a Superbike motor. Could be none at all. I have no personal experience with LiPo batteries. Mucho Dinero!

I have been using LiPo batteries for years now in aircraft. But for $230 for a battery I do not have to save on weight that much on my bike. My battery lasts me about 4-5 years I will just get a new one for the $75 when I need it. Lithium cells can be charged about 1000-1200 times on th eaverage before they start loosing capacity. This means every time you start your bike it counts as one charge. this is exactly the same technology as in your cell phone or your lap top, just on a larger scale. Modern Lithium cells can dump up to 40x their capacity. this means that if you have a 12 amp pack, it can dump up to 480 Amps on demand without damage to itself. The problem is that if your Reg/Rec goes bad and dumps extra voltage into them they WILL EXPLODE. the resultant fire is about 4x as bad as a magnesium fire. The nice part is that it can be extinguished with water spray.

Woah! I have seen what a magnesium fire can do to a machining center, and I don't want that kind of fire lit under my ass.

"Chestnuts Roasting-on-an-open-fire" Why worry about that since you have that heat right next to all that fuel in rubber hoses going to your carburetor. This could put a new meaning to the term "Crotch Rocket"
