That's what I've found as well.

The 550 plates should even be the same as the 650/750-4 plates since that part of the motor is basically the same. they can even share timing covers and advancers (not positive on the advancer). I think one of my 550's is actually using a 650 cover right now.

Too bad the alternator side is not interchangeable too.

You are looking at the 1012 which is superseded by the 1133 and preceded by the 1002. Take a look at the 2005 KZ1000-P24 and it will show you and all of the replacement #s. The final of which is the 59026-1133. It will show you all the #s it supersedes.
