14 Dec 2009 19:33
I was replacing the clutch cable and putting back on my carbs and wanted to here it turn over . pushed the button and nothin . asked my step father to help me trubble shoot the problem and we came up with a bad silnoid . no big deal went to the shop and they no longer make mine so i purchesed one for a kz 1000 . put the wires together and noticed the wire ends "could only be one way and compared to the origanal that was the wrong way" so i switched them still nothin so i tore the starter button apart the key activates the lights and makes three wires in the switch hot but this is where im lost ! i would think there would be mabe 2 of the 4 hot then when you push the button mabe 3 hot idk???????? ive been scratchen my head for days it used to turn over fine!!!

Was thinking maybe the Off-Run-Off switch had been inadvertently clicked to the Off position.
My bikes won't crank over (i.e., electric starter motor doesn't engage) unless the Off-Run-Off switch is in the Run position.
Good Luck!

Make sure all the proper connectors throughout the wiring harness are all plugged in, and in thier correct positions.
Many of the circuits are intermixed and require continuity throughout the entire system for everything to work OK.
Or just jump the solenoid with a wire and fire it up!
The starter just has to have its primary wire connected to the battery positive (via whatever) for the starter to spin.
Good luck!

I do not want to unwrap all the wires but i guess thats what im goin to have to do. i just dont know even where to start ?
