So I had this Beast for about 2 hours contemplating the tear down and selling the parts on E bay; That was until I decided that I wanted to hear it run....
hphotos-snc1.fbcdn.net/hs256.snc1/10335_...115174_5631077_n.jpg [/img]
I have no idea how long this bike sat so I cleaned out the nasty rust/ gas from the tank and did a PB blaster back flush with the pump, to my surprise that it still worked! I put new fuel lines on, hooked up a Gas I.V and with jumper cables and an Optima battery the Hell Beast turned over! hphotos-snc1.fbcdn.net/hs256.snc1/10335_...120005_6356890_n.jpg [/img]
I got her to run for about 15 seconds until the plugs fouled out (to much fuel) so it had spark and fire!
...So I have some questions now, I have been scouring the Net and I can't find what what I am looking for. I called Z1Enterprizes and spoke to Chris (super cool guy) and he turned me on to Kawasaki Microfiche and that helped a ton as far as where things go.
Now I have a few questions,
1- Where can I find the wiring diagrams for this beast?
---If I ground the starter the fuel pump will not turn on, so I have to kick start it. I have a Power probe coming in from Matco Tuesday (another good deal)
2- How can I safely clean the MAF?(looks like it was run w/o the air filter)
--- I have cleaned the vane and wire styles before but not the Karman vortex sensor types.
3- What should the compression be across the cylinders?
Sorry about this post being long winded, But I think this technology is so cool for a bike over 20 years old and I know it will run! I am not sure what I will do with this beast (maybe build a kick ass go cart) I am giving myself a $200 limit on what I spend

There are a couple of supplements for this bike for sale on Ebay and this is what you MUST get.
Very important when you mess around with these babies is to disconnect the White/red lead which connects the battery positive terminal to the fuel injection system harness under the left side cover. If you damage the EFI control unit you are talking big bucks to replace it even if you can get hold of a decent one.
Great bikes!!!
Sadly mine got stolen from outside my house just last night- I left the bike charging in the street outside my house, don't have garage with mains electricity. A little careless as I didn't chain it when I went to bed- so taken by some joyrider.
It has been recovered by the police who are keeping it until tomorrow for forensics. I am told that there is some mud on it but don't know yet how much it has been damaged. I don't know whether the policeman that called me was a motorcyclist or not and be able to assess any damage.
I will find out tomorrow.
Good luck with your new toy-- can we ask what you paid for it (make us all jealous)

I was lucky enough to find a shop manual at my local dealer. There might be a wiring diagram in the file base on this site. If not, I have one I can scan and send to you or send a hard copy. It looks almost completely stock. Congrats.

Getting it to run is the hard part. I can't seem to find a shop manual or wiring diagrams anywhere. i looked at E bay and the best I can find is a supplement, I need info on the Fuel Infection system I wonder if the '80 Z1 book will work it was injected too.
if you get the supplement, it has all the info on the Fuel Inj. sstem. You should look at the '80 Z1 book that you mention above. It has caused some confusion, but this bike has Z1 Classic on the side panels but it is the G model bike.
Also, I just checked, there is a wiring diagram in the filebase on this site. go to KZ information, File Base, then look for the model. Should be 1980 G1 Classic.
Hard to read but maybe you could blow it up and print it.

Tomorrow my plan of attack is to check/ clean all of the grounds and connectors, I have a crap load of CRC contact cleaner and a bucket load of Di-electric grease
If anyone knows how to clean this out I want to know , I bought a can of MAF cleaner but I am iffy about hosing it down since I know they are rare. A friend of mine suggested that I open it up and use a pencil eraser to clean the in side. Anyone try this?
