Oil light wont go out

But Oil light stays on.
I havent even test rode it yet, because I want to make sure that I actually have oil pressure.
I checked the connection on the oil pressure switch, and it is good. when wire is grounded the oil light is on.
So when I disconnect it the light goes off. When I touch it to the ground, or the switch, it turns on. It stays on when the engine is running.
Is there a simple way to prove that I have oil press??
I dont know if the switch was functioning before, because when I got the bike, it was disassembled.
I have put a lot of work into getting this thing together, and I dont want to run the engine w/ no oil press.
(Maybe another clue, the headlight has no voltage)
Any Ideas??
Help??
Thanks

Yeah, no doubt man.
If you can fit a clear hose in the opening, then the other end into a container. Pump the kicker (key off) and voila, oil pressure.
If your nervous about it, get a guage and make sure its to spec.
Good luck.

The sensor switch is behind the points. I dont think that there is room to mount a guage and then get the points back on.

Is there somewhere to mount an oil press guage?

Yeah, I see what you mean... oil switch is #16 right.
I'm not too familiar with the 650's...
Maybe attach one to the plug (# on the left side. I think that is an oil pressure rail.
Good luck.

Here is the key: The thread in the engine is metric, but I discovered that a 1/4"-18 tpi pipe bushing will screw right in and get snug toward the top of the tapered threads. I put red loctite on the bushing and screwed it in snug (15-20 ft pounds maybe), then teflon taped the 1/8" pipe threads on the gauge and screwed it into the bushing until it was snug and the gauge was pointing where I could see it while riding.
