It should be as in the photo by loudhvx. Also, just a note: do not turn the crankshaft by using the smaller timing advancer bolt ---- instead, put a 17mm wrench on the big nut.

Awesome!
ThanX as always.

Oh, should I have an earth tab or something going to that little red thing, with the brass bolt? It was naked and loos when I popped mine open?

That thing is the pressure switch for the oil pressure warning light. It usually has a blue wire (maybe with red stripe) attached to it, and that wire runs all the way up to the gauges to the oil light.

If that advancing mechanism is yours, I would certainly push those 'E' clips off remove the springs, weights and cam, clean rust from those, polish the pins and resemble with a good lube, especially the inside of the cam and shaft..etc

Yep, all the sliding parts have been cleared, cleaned, then cleaned again with a brass brush and wet&dry paper with a little petrol, flushed off with some brake cleaner. All lubed up and reddy to go.
Nothing was moving at all when I started. Lol
Oh and the plug from the pickups themselves had bad corrosion on two pins. So that's had a good seeing to as well.
ThanX again to everyone.

The wiring diagrams show a blue/red wire for the oil pressure switch.

Here's a site w a pdf manual & wiring diagrams. mbsween. bike-night. KZ750L3 . Scroll down & click "The Bible" link.
Note: some of the wiring diagrams are mislabeled in the links: the 1981 Ltd is an H2, the 82 is an H3, & the 83 is an H4.

telefunkin wrote: yep bounty, just cracked it open and that is how it is set up. When i line up the "F" timing mark the flywheel is out almost a quarter of an inch setting off the spark too early.

I got 2 of the screws out but the third is being a biatch. The previous owner must of been in here before and stripped out the screwhead so I can't get a grip to remove. Now i gotta get down to the hardware store and get some kind of bit to pull this out.

Thanks...

Are you using JIS screwdrivers ? if you're using Phillips screwdrivers you will ruin all the screws
