If you're good at electrical circuit building, one of the members here has used off the shelf GM modules for a number of years.

dyna ignitions are easy to get and work excellent but so doesn't your stock ignition system. unless you need to update coils or need a two-step type box i'd stay with stock.

Well considering that I have no spark right now going to my plugs...i've got some ignition problems..and i rather go with electronic ignition.

i am using a dyna s 2000 full ignition system and it works great. Easy to use and you will probably never have to mess with it again.

what about the dyna 2 systems....the dyna 3000 does that replace rectifier, and all of your ignition stuff...

My understanding is what you're calling a rectifier is actually the IC Igniter(it gives the coils a ground firing the sparkplugs). The Dyna S replaces this with everything under the points cover doing the work of the old parts.

I've been running an MSD MC-1 for about 15 years now and it's awesome. The plugs spark multiple times per stroke (Multiple Spark Discharge, MSD). I bought it mainly for drag racing so I could add a 2 step. They're great units but unless you need the 2 step a regular dyna S conversion is probably the best / easiest / cheapest solution. It pretty much bolts right on by replacing your points set up. Good luck.

According to Dyna, the coils for use with a Dyna S are 3-ohm minimum. Don't know what year 1100 you have, but if it came with electronic ignition, you'll have to get new coils to use the Dyna S. However, others have used lower resistance coils with success, but I don't think they used them on a permanent long-term basis.
