good luck with that. bike is too heavy and you can't change gear ratios to make it quicker. you need something with chain drive not shaft driven.

the engine part wouldn't be bad you need a different out put shaft and some parts from a gpz or j motor the frame and swingarm is what you have to change out. dark angel don't take this the wrong way what you have would be a great street bike but frankly it it not the greatest choice for a hot-rod i have been racing for fifteen years and very rarly do you ever see anybody with a shaft drive bike last a long time the diff's can be very fragile when launching them hard you very limited in tire sizes that you can use and they tend to be alot heavier bikes the kz1100 was basiclly kawi's answer to the gold wing. so it is more of a touring bike. i didn't mean to make it sound like i was shooting you down just trying to save you a bunch of grief in the future.

While a shaft drive has some advantages over a chain, such as being cleaner and requiring less frequent maintenance, it is also somewhat less efficient than a chain in transferring horsepower from the engine to the rear wheel.

And there are different handling characteristics between shaft and chain drive, such as when rapidly accelerating or decelerating.

Generally speaking, the shaft should be easier to live with, especially when touring. And lots of folks would have nothing else but a shaft, aren't particulary interested in changing ratios, and won't tolerate a chain's mess and constant maintenance.

Belt drives -- clean, smooth and quiet -- are a compromise, but entail their own peculiar problems such as critical alignment, stress on sprocket bearings due to necessary belt tightness, and difficulty in changing ratios.

Good Luck! :)
