I need alot of help PLEASE! was created by armygirl_603
Ok so I just bought a 1982 KZ 250 LTD.. It has been sitting for the last 9 years outside.. Its wouldn't start when we got it, but found out that it is missing the gears that go from the starter to the drive shaft (I hope thats what you call it).. but thats not my problem, my brother desided to strip it all down.. I mean everything... I cleaned all parts to it.. Now I told him today that I want to put it back together. HA he don't know how to do it... grrr. So my question is how in the hell do I hook back up ALL the wiring... Keep in mind I don't know anything about a bike.. I am a 1st timer in this area.. and on top of that a girl.. I am willing to do the dirty work, just need some help doing it. Thanks so much!

Take your computer cursor to the top left where it has KZ information, move to the left to find "file base", you might be able to find the wiring diagram there. If not try:
www.armbell.com/forum/index.php?mforum=kz400 This is a website for most if not all of the Kwasaki twin engined motorcycles. A lot of knowledgeable people there.

first things first welcome aboard and now to work we go. do you have a manual if not get one pronto because if you don't you are in for some frustration. the manual will have the proper electrical wiring harness routing directions as well ascable and brake hose routing also it will show youexactly where every thing belongs and how tight to make it. next question why did your brother take it apart and why did you let him. if you have any problems that you and your manual can't figure out holler and some body on here will be able to help. there is mucho experiance on the forum.don't be afraid to ask.

chicks working on bikes is no big deal my ex is a certified motorcycle mechanic she would still be doing it but she got hit on a test ride at work and it messed up her neck and shoulder so instead she works the parts counter at a harley dealership which works out good for people that are looking for parts as she knows exactly what they are going to need before they do being a mechanic her self. she would rather be doing mechanic work but at least this keeps her around bikes. and by the way don't let anybody tell you can't do it because you can. i'm teaching two girls right now how to be mechanics and they are doing just fine as good or better then most of the guy's in the class.

Welcome armygirl...step number one (and I reiterate)...buy a genuine Kawasaki shop manual for your bike...source it on eBay...you should be able to pick one up fairly inexpensively. Does your bike have spoke wheels or mag wheels?

Welcome aboard, armygirl.

One thing your brother should have done is taken pictures and documented where things go as he was taking it apart. Since it sounds like he did neither, I think you need to have him help you put it back together as he can probably recall most of it from memory. I know that sisters can beat up their brothers so get to it! :D

Between the factory service manual and this forum, you'll be able to figure it out. Very few of us started out as motorcycle mechanics before we started working on a bike.

BTW, if you start looking for parts/info, etc. what you have is a KZ250-M1. It is virtually the same as a KZ250-L1, except you have mag wheels. The M1 was only available in 1982. :)
