i was looking at shindy digital electronic tachs, they look tiny and have a little plate you can attach them to and clamp to the bars. i saw it on dennis kirk, shindy also makes regular electronic needle style gauges, though i wonder how youd rig up something to attach it to the bars.

Hey OMR, I'm looking at the 2803. How do you like the 2802? Does it read in mph or kmh??? And is the tach a wire pickup? How did you plug the tach cable port on the motor if so???

How do you like the 2802?
Now that I have it all figured out regarding the sensor mounting and speed programing... Love the little thing for it has all the indicators plus 2 trip odometers where I use the 2nd one for my guess mileage logging (Fill up at 100 miles)....

Does it read in mph or kph???
Yup!

And is the tach a wire pickup?
No but you do have the option for two configurations for tach measurements... One being wrapping a provided single conductor around on of the spark wires which I chose not to do for in my research, too many inaccuracy postings...

How did you plug the tach cable port on the motor if so???

The one I did do was direct hook up to coil 1/2 input feed from the ignition Dyna ignition plate... In comparing the measurement to a hand held tach, within 100rpms.

Purchased a tach block off plug from Z1 and went total electronic....

NOTE: They do offer a cable to electronic sender to Acewell conversion as well...

All in all, very happy with the unit, small, has other functions that I use such as gas fill up mileage, nice Blue color for night viewing and low current consumption!

The latter along with LED brake & turning signals allowed me to decrease my current load so I could use dual head lights without straining my electrical system...;)

One of those Acewell gauges would solve my "bouncing tach needle" issue.
