Right, but is there a reason to use one over the other? Is there a better of the two?

Are you planning on switching to electronic ignition?

If so, Dyna 3 or S series ignition?
Then stick with the Dyna for the coils and ignition are somewhat matched for your bike model...

Outside of that, probably comparable in performance...

Theres also else to think about if not going with electronic ignition. This excerpt is for Dyna coil installation, not sure about Accel coils....

It makes no difference whether you install the Dyna or Accel coils. The main difference is that the mounts holes are offset about 3/4" too wide for the Accel so you will have to use one bolt/nut and one wire tie where the Dyna holes line up for a KZ bracket and you can use two bolts.

Accel coils bolt straight on the 76-80 KZ750 twins and the 83-85 GPz750's, while the Dyna coils require some work to fit. On the 650's the reverse is true, Dyna's bolt on, Accel don't.

I don't have a clue about other years/models, but I guess I'd better start thinking of what to use on my 80 KZ750E project.

Yeah I thought it was in my sig. but I do have a dyna S ignition, but also the 80 750 motor which is in my sig., has factory idi. Basically my question was answered, the actual coils are roughly the same for an aftermarket, high performance coil. Thanks for the input fellas. Hope all your winter projects are going well.

You can mount the Accel coils sideways on the 650 with the supplied brackets. the rear coil is very close to the valve cover but they will fit without any modification.
