KZ 1000 owner needs some advice.... was created by OldHippie
Hi,
I have a 2000 KZ 1000 P19 (police special) and have had to remove the front fairing due to the damage. Seems the previous owner let it sit in the weather and the plastic insert has got severe dry-rot. Anyways I want to install a light bar assembly, but with all the searching
I've done I can not find any commercial sets that apply to mike bike. Does anyone have experience building their own light bar assembly?
Any help would be MASSIVELY appreciated. Thanks

Not really for KZ's but you may want to look at JP Cycles, mostly Harley related... But shouldn't matter if attaching to frame...

If your front fork tubes are 39MM(real close to 1 1/2" diameter) Kuryakyn # 2285 two-piece clamps will fit allowing a light bar to be mounted. They have a nice selection of light bars in their catalog.
www.kuryakyn.com
is their website.
I'm in the process of fitting a light bar using these clamps. I will use a piece of 6061-T6 Aluminum 1" square solid bar about 24" wide to put the lights on.
I have a relay box mounted and wired to control the louder horns and lights. Work on this has been slow as I have limited space in the garage at the present time.
The relay box is aluminum with a cover to protect the relays from water but has drain holes in the bottom in case moisture does intrude. I mounted it just above the oil cooler below the steering head on the front of my 82 GPZ1100 B2.
