First thing to do is benchmark your AC output. Pull the blue plug on your bike after starting. Bike is running on battery output so you can put a multimeter in AC scale on two of the three stator pins out of the stator. Your manual for your model will tell you what is supposed to be the output. Measure every way between all pins.
Ok, you got what you were supposed to get... look into an aftermarket stator and try and figure out how to restore the magnetic field to the magnet part.
If you didn't get what you were supposed to get, perhaps some connector cleaning and new wires (new wires CAN be soldered in) and the connections dabbed with dielectic grease will get you what you are supposed to get. It can't hurt to do clean up and re-check.
If you are wanting an AC value that you can't get with the OEM stuff; even when it is working as it should, then perhaps aftermarket might work. I doubt that if you found an OEM NOS replacment or a used unit it would help unless your stator is not working as it should. Fortunately, in the aftermarket, you won't have to spend a lot of time looking for replacements since I think there are only two. I am sure you have seen that electrical trouble shooting flow chart or the link somewhere. I can't recall that company's name but they make them for some KZ models. The other company is Ricks. I think z1enterprises.com sells these. I don't know if they sell stators with higher voltage outputs than stock or they are just OEM replacment units with about the same output. You will have to check with them

Electrex Corporation manufactures "heavy duty" hi output stators for KZ's.

Rick's units are overwound slightly to give approx 5%-10% more output. This may not seem like much, but it's a help.
You can cheat a little in other areas to help. Things like an LED tail light bulb will same you a little power - 3w saved. I've even resorted to removing the bottom light bulb in each gauge to save some power... 6w's saved...
