Looks like I got to run new wires for my bike. Any tips or input that mike help me out before I partake on this legendary journey. I will post pics of my bike soon. Just found this site today and has already helped me out.

Wiring harness is around $230 give or take. Problem is there's no way to ever know if it's available unless you actually order it. You may get it, may come back NLA. Kawasaki has the darn strangest parts system I've ever seen as they list every part for every motorcycle with a price regardless of whether it's available. I tried to order parts for a H2 20 yrs ago and they were NLA but there they are still listed today with a price. I suppose the inflated prices are meant to discourage buying obsolete parts, but I'd much rather just see "no longer available" than a stupid price for a part that's been not available for 20 dang years. I see a few parts on bikebandit.com are now listed as no longer available, so hopefully this nonsense is slowly changing.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

many years ago my '77 KZ1000 fried it's harness and i am still riding with a cobbled-together mess of shade-tree repairs. please let me know how progress went with yours and what part you actually used. my many attempts to fix it "correctly" never worked because every used harness i got had different connectors that wouldn't work with the existing connectors on handlebar switches, etc. and whenever i worked on it i would get dizzy looking at the wires and diagrams longer than 10 minutes. i'd rather pull the engine...

i did put in the auto-type blade fuses last year and corrected a lot of problems.
