my main problem is a carb float that taking on gas, flooding my right hand carb, but, i put on new K&N pod filters, and it won't rev over 5-5500 rpm. but i take them off then i can redline it no prblem, i checked the archives and couldn't find any answers. another thing, is the carbs spray gas vapors out the back(filter side) when i rev it, i think my float levels are too high.
p.s. i'm doing 4500-5000 rpm at 55mph, does that sound ok?

Your problems are related. According to you: when you add an air filter that is less restrictive than the stock air box the bike won't spin to redline but when running open mouthed it runs fine. You've got something causing the mixture to be way too rich. Could be your carb float problem is making the bike run so rich that it needs the added air allowed by the open carbs to rev up.

wow, thanks, i never thoguht of it quite like that, i could probably also let down my main jet needle to lean it out a little. That also means that my left hand float level is maladjusted, i tried to solder my float, it lasted, for about a day, now i'm looking for a new one, or maybe just a whole new setup, thanks alot y'all

The RPMs sound about right , If you want to gear it different Z1 has the Best prices on gears ,, Go to 17 on the front for sure ,,Thr rear is up to you , The lower the teeth count the higher the gear ratio will be on the rear I think 45 is stock .. 41 or 42 might be a good start :) as that should take about 1000 Rpm off cruising with the 17 front ,, :) :)

Buy some K&N filter cleaner and some K&N air filter oil. Thoroughly clean the old oil and then reoil but this time read the directions. Sounds like you have over-oiled the filters.
