I bought a carb for my bike on ebay. It needs a complete rebuild. Is there anywhere I can get a new diaphragm at decent price? I found the item on one site, for $185. That's a lot for a little bike.

Obviously, without having any idea what type bike you are referring to, it is pretty hard to give much advice. Just as a suggestion, put your bike year/model in your signature.

I agree woth JR. NRP will fit a new diaphragm for you:

Kawasaki Z250 G Ltd Single 80- £28.50 Fitted
Kawasaki Z250 C Single £28.50 Fitted

That is 1/2 the price Kawasaki are asking for a NOS piston and diaphragm.

You will have to send the vacum piston to NRP to get this done thoug. E-mail Andy at : This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. , and he will tell you more about it.

I found that site; I couldn't get an email through, though. Something about an invalid address.

I thought about putting the info in my signature, but there's so much that's not normal, and it's constantly changing.
The carb is from an '82 KL250
The motor is an '83 KZ250
The frame is a '66 Wards Riverside
For the moment...

Skitch, NRP do have the diaphragm for the KL250 as well.

I don't know why the E-mail adress doesn't work though:

fonZee, welcome to the forum. I don't know if NRP will rebuild your carbs, you will have to send them an E-mail and ask if they do. However, they do carry NOS parts for them.
If they don't rebuild carbs, I will suggest that you find someone who is using an ultra sonic cleaner for the carb bodies. There was an interesting article in a UK bike magazine a while back written by a professional bike mechanic and restorer, and he wrote that ultra sonic cleaning of the carb bodies is the way to go. He claimed it was the only way get the passages properly cleaned.

There are at least two companies that offers ultrasonic cleaning of the carb bodies pluss a rebuild.

This one in Canada:
www.siriusconinc.com/rebuilding_tips.asp

And this one in USA:
www.motorcyclecarbs.com/Motorcycle_Carburetor_Repair_C_W123.cfm

But none of them are cheap though.

We also have companies in Europe that is offering the same service, but the shipping costs will be high.

Thank you very much for that information. I will check them out. I wan't this bike to be dependable when I am finished. I must say that the carbs scare me a little.

I ordered my parts from NRP, but the holiday rush has slowed the postal service down. Two weeks of hassling the mailman, and still waiting.
