ok carb guys.i need some help. i am putting on 26mm carbs off a 900 onto my 750 stock engine with a 4 into 1 custom pipe (baffles removed) and pod filters.

i ride my bike pretty darn hard and might even put it on the track some time in the near future. so mid to top end power would be what i am realy looking for.

what type of jetting do you guys recomend? i am starting to rebuild these carbs and am just about ready to buy the kits with jets.

please help!!!!

There are various VM26s and they need to be jetted differently. The jetting you describe isn't stock for any. What were these carbs off of? What is the ID mark? (found on flange on outside carb).

VM26SS from 77 KZ1000A - Should have stock:
#107.5 mains
#17.5 pilots
5CN8-3 jet needles
258 0-6 needle jets
service fuel level ~ 3mm
pilot mix screws 1 to 1 1/4 turns out

With a 4 into 1 w/baffles and pods, about #115s should be OK... I think those jet needles will like to be clipped to 4th slot. Slots count from 1 at the top. Pilots should be OK. If you have poor response off idle, go with #20 pilots and start at 1.5 turns out from lightly seated on mix screws.

Those carbs are from a 77 KZ1000A. They are the same carbs as I use on my KZ1000E1 ST personal rider. They originally came with #107.5 mains and #17.5 pilots and 5CN8-3 jet needles in 0-6 needle jets. Bump the main jets to #115s and the pilot jets to #20s. Set the jet needle to the 4th clip. These carbs can bog using pods with the stock pilot jets even though they are #17.5s because of the shortness and profile of the jet needles.
