fuel injection conversion

I have a 1980 kz1000e. I have a set of throttle bodies and told I could convert this bike over to mechanical fuel injection easy. If this is true how can it be done?

Mechanical Fuel injection? The only systems I am aware of that are mechanical (on gas engines anyway) are the old Rochester on the late 50's Corvette and Impala, the early Bosche on Volkswagons, and the famous Hillborn injection on the dragsters.

Since your bike is already injected, I would use the MegaSquirt EFI controller with your system, or slap on a set of 82-84 GPz1100 throttle bodies with the MegaSquirt. It would be pretty easy to do.

Yeah, I forgot they used the Rochester Fuel Injection on the 327 Corvette also. I think 65 was the last year for it, but I'm not sure. 327/375hp wasn't it? 360 or 365 with a Holley four barrel?

On the MegaSquirt. We have discussed it here before, and Dave Sloan is running it on his 650/810 and seems pretty pleased with it. When I get around to finishing my GPz750 it will have the 1100 throttle bodies and MegaSquirt (I already have both).

Keg_0069:

Do you have the throttles bodies with the injectors mounted on them or those without injectors?:)

I have a set of those off an early GPz1100, bought off eBay by mistake :(

It would be a lot easier to do if you got some later GPz1100 (82-84) throttle bodies, GSXR will work with some mods and there are a lot of those available. It's not really a good idea to mount the injectors in the head the way the original KZ1000 Classic did.

Steell is correct...the ones you need are those with the injectors attached. You have no way (without major work on your head) to use injectors. Your throttle bodies would attach where your carbs currently are. Your idea to stick with the carbs is probably wise...less headache:)
