Hello,
I am new to posting but have gained a wealth of knowledge from browsing in the last month. My problem is an idle that jumps up to 2,000 to 3,000rpms when the bike is fully warmed up. The idle can be brought back down if I reach down and bump the 3to4 throttle linkage, but the cables and linkages all seem to be free and I have lubed all of them to be sure. I have taken the carbs off and thoroughly cleaned all of the jets and passageways, set the airscrews to 2 turns out and checked the floats using the wet method. The orings are missing from 2 of the airscrews (#2&3). Could this be the problem? I have checked the timing, replaced spark plugs (which are black after only a few miles due to richness), replaced the orings on the plastic plug over the pilot jet which seemed to help lean it out some, and replaced the intake manifold boots with new ones. Thanks in advance for any help.

Replace the orings. They are leaking air and the pilot system is very sensitive to air leaks.

I have those same carbs on mine. WG is right. You need those O rings. I found this through experience. Tiny as they are they make a world of difference.
