I would like to know if anyone has information on which filter works better, the oval cone or just the cone. I have heard that the oval produces more power. does anyone know why that would be. I know that they are much more expensive than the regular cone filters. also why do you have to change the jets after you put the cones or ovals on the carbs.

Well depending which brand you get it's likely that most mid-high priced filters will perform roughly the same, the cheap ones are usually accepted as slightly poorer quality. Some filters are just cheaper or disposable, some washable (foam), and some expensive brand name kinds, you just need to look in to which brand/type has the features you want, at the price you want.

As for jetting... when an airbox is just one little port for 4 big carbs and you change the equation to 1 big open sided port per carb you are adding a LOT more air, so you need more fuel to keep up, in the form of bigger jets.
