78 KZ750 Carb Boots

Hey all - new to the fourum, and the bike. OK, Newbie all around. Got this bike well used, and in need of a few things (Battery, all bulbs, horn, general cleaning, etc.). It starts, runs, but is rough, and eventually stalls if I don't keep on the throttle. I think some carb cleaning is in order. Leaks gas out of the overflow tube when I shut it off (stuck float?)

Anyhow, one of the carb boots is cracked to the point I can put my finger in it. Not good. BikeBandit tells me they are out of 'em, and I do not see any for the 750 on Z1.

What are my options? Any similar models to swap with? Make my own? Salvage? Duct Tape? (This is looking like the best, cheap option right now!)

I used Ultra Black RTV sealant on mine untill I found a set. Worked fine! Check the classifieds on this site or watch Ebay.

This one will start with the choke on when cold, but die fast if you leave it on for more than a few seconds. Once it warms up, it will barely idle, it is very choppy, around 800-900 RPMS, then will die. Even when revved, it sounds rough. The carb might need some adjusting, but given the bike's history of sitting for over a year, I am thinking a little cleaning and new plugs are a good place to start. The hole in the boot can't be helping matters, either!
