(REVISED)Need Carb Help!!!! gas leaking out pods
01 Sep 2006 09:24
Hey Everyone I'm new to the site. I have a 76Kz900 with mikuni 26mm carbs. I'm running airpods and a 4 into 1 exhuast. There is gas leaking out the airpod boots. It seems to be coming out after I turn the bike off and it sits for ahwile. I pulled the pods off and there was gas in the boots. I was able to fix the flooding problem but the gas leak is still an issue. any Ideas on how to fix it!

it leaks out when it sits? too much gas in the bowl?
check the carb floats and needle valve, and check the float level.
jetting isn't making the gas leak, but when you swap stock box and pipes for pods and 4-1 you MUST re-jet.

With pods and 4 into 1 you can use about #122.5 mains and leave the stock pilots in as well as the 5DL31-3 jet needle setting (leave jet needle clipped to 3rd slot). The flooding has nada to do with the jetting as has been pointed out. You need to be specific about WHEN the flooding occurs. Is it when the bike is sitting or running? Oh yeah, once you figure it out, change your oil; it is gas fouled.
