I put velocity stacks on over the weekend on my 79 KZ1000st... (stock motor, MAC 4-1, no baffles). I was running UNI foam pods with 17.5 pilots and 117.5 mains. (Which ran pretty good... I've got abuot 500 miles on this set-up)
It ran horrible off the bottom to upper mid-range but kicked in "OK" at full throttle.
Last night I raised the needles a notch and it ran a little better mid to full throttle.
Then I put in a 120 main and it ran like a scalded ape from mid to full throttle. It still popped and bobble in the lower RPM's (under 3000)... I pulled the plugs and they were black at the core and white on the little bar thingy at the top.
Any thots?
I'm riding to Mid-Ohio on Friday and desperately want to get this thing sorted out... I know I can revert back to my original set-up but I'm too stubborn for that.
Thanks!
Claude
