Removing Gas Tank To Clean was created by Frazzles
I have a 1978 KZ750 that had been sitting for four years and I need to remove the gas tank to clean out minor rust. I've never done this before, so i'm here asking for any help or advice that anyone could give me.
Thanks A Lot,
Eddie

78 KZ750 has to be a twin, and I do know a little about those.
There is (or should be anyway) a little rubber band under the back edge of the tank that is accessed by raising the seat, it fits over a clip on the rear bottom of the tank on top of the main frame tube, just pull it back towards the rear to release it. You also need to remove the two fuel lines from the petcock, then you lift the back edge of the tank and slide the tank rearwards and lift it off.
Might want to remove the petcock and clean the screen, and unscrew the bottom of the petcock and clean that out as well.
Don't forget to grease the swingarm fitting on the top right side of the swingarm pivot with a grease gun.
Several of us here have 750 twins
