Mikuni Flat Slide Throttle
Yesterday 18:08
What are you guys doing re the push / pull throttle recommended for the Mikuni Flatslides, My 82 KZ1000J has only a single cable, also the throttle assy has the start / stop controls in it ?
would appreciate any work around ideas, what is everyone doing to keep the original controls,?
Are the Push / Pull absolutly required, the return springs seem pretty strong on the carb rack.
I have a set of 34mm that i would like to try out on the bike.
Thank You !

When we put RS carbs on the 80' GS 1100E with a single cable throttle we bought an EMGO dual cable throttle. We pulled out the throttle tube from the control pod and were able to slide the pod inboard on the handlebar just enough to make it work.

If Mikuni engineered them for dual cables then you should only run a dual cable on it for safety reasons, especially for a street bike.
Switch the control pod out for one that has dual cable capability.

Its Clear that dual cables push / pull are required, i asked the question to see if there was a particular model or year of dual cable assy complete with switch that was being used by others.
Stock unit also houses the start / stop switch, im sure im not the first owner to be going down this road !

I’m not up on the “newer” Kz’s but look for a ‘85 Gpz750 Turbo (Zx750E2) housing. Pretty sure they had dual throttle cables on that year but not the ‘84.
Also try searching OE parts diagrams from other models or browsing through eBay for used “right hand switch kawasaki”. Just start zooming in on pics of switchgear similar to your style.
