Upgrade plans, how plug in play is it in reality??

Hey guys 2Bassed here,

So I ride a 1981 Kz440a with the standard dual Keihin cv34s but I really want to upgrade to Dual Mikuni vm32s as I’ve heard the round slide carbs are wayyy easier to maintain; I’m just curious how much of a headache I’m going to make myself. Also I currently have the 2 pipe exhaust but I’d like to go to a 2-1 to reduce a little weight and get better performance and sound; should that be done before or after carbs? Retuning the slide carbs definitely sounds like a lot less work than trying to perfectly set up the needles in the Keihins. One final part to the question; do you think I even need to go the dual mikuni route or would a single carb conversion be just as practical?

thanks in advance, don’t have too much fun
