Teikei carb kits

Hi, I have a 1983 KZ550 ltd M-1 with the Teikie 26mm carbs. I have a leak in the fuel rail so i thought while it's apart, I might as well rebuild the carbs. Having trouble getting the right kit for these carbs. Should I go with the same parts with new o-rings and gaskets or try and go all new? Where can i get the o-rings and gaskets without the kits or where do i get the kits? Also, I am not finding a fuel or air screw on these carbs. I guess that's right on the CV carbs but I was not aware of it. Thanks!

First the carbs do have a pilot (fuel) screw. It is located on top of the carb on the engine side of the carb. They came stock with a plug over top of the screw. If the brass is in good shape after cleaning I would use them again. It would be a good idea to replace the o-rings and gaskets, make sure the vacuum rubbers are in good shape.

I found this kit but no nothing about it. Note they indicate to reuse the brass. You may not need all that it includes.  www.thecarburetorguy.com/product-page/ka...tk-diaphragm-rubbers

If you have not done so I would suggest you take a look at the info here. s3.amazonaws.com/gpzweb/TK26mainPage/TK26mainPage.html

It will be expensive but I would advise getting all the OEM parts you can for this from a Kawasaki dealer. I'm certain someone will chime in here about how they bought the $9 rebuild kit on eBay and it worked fine but they can be mass quantities of garbage. I also would not trust many of the cheap "OEM Kawasaki parts" on ebay which are cheap China crap dressed up with the Kawasaki part number to make them look OEM.

Thanks guys, lots of good info in the pictures on that page and the links! I appreciate it. This is a pic of my carbs prior to the parts hot tub. There was no plug on them when I opened them up. Also, The jets seem to be in different places. Main jet in the green hole and is removed. Nothing in the red hole and n threads as far as I can tell. I removed a pilot jet, or what seems like a pilot jet, from the purple hole from three of them and the one circled still has the jet in it. I can't get it out. Still trying though. Could it be that I'm missing all four plugs and intermediate jets? The two holes with the jets in them have passages in the bottom but the third hole on the top, the red circle, seems to have a bottom, no where for fuel to go. Also, the airbox. Where does one find an airbox for this?

I can respond to the airbox part since im also looking for the same airbox on my gpz550. They are fairly uncommon online. It all depends on how much you want to spend. The cheapest one I found online was 70 USD + import and located in Australia, so yeah, uncommon. Im surprised though considering the amount of kz550 shafts there are around.

That's been my experience as well. I was thinking that if I could get one to scan, I might be able to 3d print one, or maybe a hundred, seeing how scarce they are.

I believe that the 1982 model will not fit properly since they never made the airbox that he needs in 1982. They only made that airbox for the 1983-1984 shafts and 1984+ gpz550s.

that would appear to be the case if the parts diagram is correct. Bummer. Attach a  picture and I'll compare them. Thanks!
