Question, what are peoples thoughts on colourtune. Are they any good or a waste of money. Saw one being used on a youtube video, and thought oh my god thats incredible 😜. Or am i being conned.

Excellent bit of kit. The only way to get exactly the mixture you want without all the faff.
Remember that they only sort pilot circuits though as you don't want to rev above 3k rpm with the colour tune plug in so not up into needle jet/main jet range.

Good bit of kit, I still use my dads one he bought in the 1960's and a second one I bought, I run two at a time to speed up the process.

Next best thing to an MOT gas analyser or AFR meter

Looks like i'm buying a colourtune then, cheers chaps. Any perticular make are better than others.

Gunson colourtune 14mm. It's also worth getting a long reach adaptor but not critical unless your first few threads are worn.

A Color Tune kit is the cheapest most accurate way to tune slow speed operation, anything else is just guess work.

The only other way to tune the pilot circuit on carbs is with a O2 sensor and AFR gauge (way more expensive setup)

Not as if the point has not already been in favor of the Gunson but I too agree, super cool diagnostic tool to have in the box. I've been using these see-thru sparkplugs for decades and have all three 14/12 and 10mm adapter versions. 14mm is the one you'll be using if a Kawasaki. The 12mm i use for Hondas. The 10mm adapter is spotty in application because it is "just" an adapter and because the electrode is soo far removed from the combustion chamber, really tough to see the combustion color. Once you purchase and spend time with it in application you'll see it's benefits and limitations. Actually loaned out my 14mm out to one of the members here to do just that. Seems the prices have escalated since i purchased mine and availability has become spotty these days. Source/purchase and enjoy, You won't regret it.

Once again, cheers chaps. I will look into the gunson ones. I have a kz1000, so a 14mm one will do the trick.

It was the only way I was able to get an old BSA running properly a few years ago. I use it on the Z1 mainly to check the pilot circuit after a carb rebuild and make slight adjustments

Using the Gunson Colortune on my KZ1000.
Need to do it again in the Spring, now that a few more bugs have been sorted.
