Float Heighth on '83 KZ750 L3 Sports
20 Jul 2025 05:14
I woke up this morning and realized that I had left one thing off my to0do list for my 1983 L3 750: I forgot to check float height. Does anyone know what the manual specifies?
TIA
TIA

Oh NOOOO, ha. Here's the procedure if you have the correct, for your model/year, KZ750 BS34 Mikuni's. Easy to tell, early 750's had choke flaps not choke plungers. Don't measure with gasket and don't measure with full weight of float compressing needle spring. tilt the assy till float tang just kisses the needle.
Ed's going to chime in anytime and give me the business because I've not yet scrapped all my Clymer manuals...i'm waiting...hehe

Clay's reference is for float height, which is just an approximation, because what matters is fuel level.
The fuel level spec is in the factory manual, available for download here for free. I could open the manual, and repost the info here, but I'm not in a mood to spoon-feed.

Good Morning ED!! Yes just a static "starting" point as Nessism stated!! Follow the final path of success and final fine setting thru the manual which apparently is FREE. Just can't better that.

I've yet to find a PDF of full service manual for the 83 KZ750L3 anywhere.

That's because Kawasaki doesn't make a dedicated manual for that bike.
First edition: 1980 KZ750 manual published.
2nd edition: Same as 1980, with supplement for 1981 KZ750 info
3rd edition: same as 1981, with supplement for 1982 Kz750 info.
4th edition: same as 1982, with supplement for 1983 KZ750 info (including info for the KZ750L3).
5th edition: etc (previous info + new info in a supplement)
It's all quite clear and simple. All the Kawasaki (and Suzuki GS manuals) are like this.
