Morgan Carb Tune

Purchased Morgan Carb Tune Pro to sync carbs on my 2 bikes, 78 KZ1000 went great, z1b carbs were a PITA, couldn’t get them to stay stable. Ended up a compromise. Morgan worked very well easy to use.

I bought one a few years ago and have been well pleased with it.

I like the simplicity of the Morgan. It is is grab and use. The liquid filled one I had before, would require calibrating and/or adding fluid before each use.

It works fine. Please don't ever consider the Motion Pro. It's the worst tool made since tools were invented in 2000BC. I'm referring to the new version, the mercury version back in the 70s works great.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Dang Ron, pretty harsh on the "blue" fluid Motion Pro carb stick! I thought the worst tool invented was the advent of Harbor Freight drill bits? I've one of those fluid carb sticks i've used for years successfully. It is a pain to sync/calibrate all those individual tubes though!! I have an ole NOS original Mercury version just no mercury to fill. And MVENT YES, those old 72-75 "ramp" style Z1 carbs are indeed the worst of the Mikuni line-up to sync! Too much complexity of multiple springs/lever geometry. Adjust one and the adjacent one goes rouge, ha.

That’s the reason I’m putting together a set of VM26’s for the KZ900.

Back in the day, I hit up the local medical supply store, bought a small container of mercury and some borosilicate glass tubes, and made my own sync tool.  Worked great, and cheap.

Way back in the before times, Suzuki had a synchronizer for its dealerships  that had three glass tubes, each with a ball bearing in it. When they came out with four cylinder bikes, the factory came up with a kit to add a fourth tube and ball.

And some additional info if it Helps mvent? Don't give up completely on those early Z1 carbs yet! They follow a different path to success. I do quite a few of them Z's AND the CB350/400/500 and 550's that have the exact same issues because of the same design. You never mentioned which version of the Z carbs you had? They had 5 versions. The early ones had #4 carb adjuster..well non-adjustable. I change those out for adjustability. Waay too often overlooked are the TWO sleeves/steel&teflon sleeve (2) for casting lifter. They are pressed into the two sides of the casting. They don't like those "ultra-sonic" cleaners, you'll rattle that NECESSARY bonded teflon bushing right out of them!! Without that sleeve, you'll never be able to set them. I mention it because You said a dunk in the sonic.. I Never use an ultrasonic on Any carb set i do, totally unnecessary and gives a false initial promise of clean.

Here are the sleeves and tool to remove if necessary. Also You mentioned you need a Fuel Tee. I've been reusing the originals for years. Just cut away as shown and add a couple #78 O-Rings for replacement. Note the extra one shown that are available, totally unnecessary. There's Your ham sandwich, Have Fun!!

Asphalt900, carbs are Z1B all four slides are adjustable. Had everything stripped or so I thought, but not those sleeves before ultrasound. I will reuse the one original fuel tee, missing the other, I see they are available oem but pricey. Have an old can of Berrymans probably try that with these carbs.
