VM22SS - Second Pilot Jets

(Previously posted in error to Chassis)

What’s going on here?
Bought nice running KZ650 DA1 with poor tickover. VM22SS non-pumpers.
Removed and stripped carbs. Only one had a second pilot jet (50).
Simultaneously I spotted spare carbs on ebay at a nice price.
Stripped these and AGAIN found only one carb with a second pilot jet!

Coincidence? Normal? Or what?

Hi, please try and keep to one thread per topic. Guys get frustrated trying to follow multiple threads on the same topic - I have removed the other three versions of this post

First let me preface this post by saying I do not claim to be an expert on the topic. Will say I have only been able to find info that suggests all of the vm 22 and vm24 carbs that have only a pilot (fuel) screw and  came stock on the 650s have the additional #50 jet.

Which carb did your current set have the additional jet located in? All of the sets I have had apart had the additional jet in all the carbs. Did the second set have it in the same carb? I can not see what advantage having the jet on only one carb would provide. I in the past have removed them from both 22s and 24s and have not noticed any difference in function, via the seat of my pants.

I might ask what the ID stamped on the set of carbs (both) is? It should be located on the flange below the choke lever on carb #1 or in the same location on the outside of carb #4. I would assume either 1026 or 1046. The should be in 2 lines as follows.
102
6 (may be other letters or numbers after it)
or
104
6  (may be other letters or numbers after it)
