Air screw mod
17 May 2024 01:34
I purchased a set of US spec 28mm pumper carbs here in the UK very cheaply, they had been sitting a very long time unused, evident by zero wear on the slides and no evidence of being apart, number 4 slide would not return upon cloes inspection there was a high spot on the wall of the body, 2000 grit mesh and a couple of minutes took care of this. Tamper plugs were taken out and New genuine purchased but were a lose fit, so I made new air screws using using the type we had in the UK, I turned threaded part down down to 3.5mm leaving a small shoulder, then made the threaded part to slide on and soldered, I then cut a slot for a screwdriver, I then made brass inserts for where the tamper plug goes, adjustment now made easy.
UK type left, tamper type middle, modified on the right. Just an exercise to overcome and adapt
