VM26/28 Choke Lever Bent?

VM26/28 Choke Lever Bent?

Is the choke lever supposed to be bent like this, or at 90 degrees to the rod? Most I've seen are like this, and I assumed bent. Second guessing now, though.

Arm should be straight at 90 degs but most get a kink like that after being knocked.
