The throttle at the idle setting typically works best.

Nessism - Thanks bro! What I meant was when carbs have been all disassembled, cleaned, and installed new parts then reassembled, I'm uncertain of the idle screw's position for the initial startup. What I've been doing is simply adjust idle screw inward in just slight increments whenever it's struggling to start and usually works out, just not sure if this is correct or not. Seems it usually requires to be screwed inward a little to achieve the setting of 1000/1100 rpm (warm),

The butterflies were barely open when these BS34 carbs were removed from my engine:

When we sync the CV carbs on the Honda V4's we use 1/4" wide strips of copier paper for the initial setup. You drag the strip through the closed butterfly and try to achieve the same amount of drag on all 4 carbs without the paper tearing. We also have done it to several other bikes with CV carbs. We've put the guages on after the bike is running and haven't changed the settings yet.
