Jetting Help Needed was created by Nessism
2000 1000P bike
VM26's, from what I think, is a late 900. Carb code Z12 00
These carbs seem to come with 17.5 pilot and 115 mains stock
Bike running pods and header, stock otherwise
Zed air correction inserts on the way
The (hopeful) new owner of these carbs said he will take the bike for fine tuning, but I'd like it to be close on install.
What say ye?
BTW, what carb boots are recommended for a conversion like this? Boot mounting hole slotting needed?

I'm thinking the bolt pattern is the same. KZ1000s in 1977/78 used VM26s and jetting iirc was like 15 pilot and 102 main.
Remember a 998cc KZ1000 will have a stronger draw thru the ventri than a 903cc KZ900 all else being equal.
The stock main jet for the KZ1000 shaft drive bikes I have owned is 110 and I think that is the richest of all the KZ liter bikes.
The pilot and main should be a good start. What needle jet and jet needle do you have?

Those carbs with the angled idle bracket are Z900A1.
They are the only ones to have that along with the brace plate and they should also have the smoothbore style slide lifters.
Current jetting is correct for those carbs and was sufficient to cope with the stock max over bores to 1015cc on stock compression.
If using with pods or open carbs and my air correctors then 117.5 mains should be fitted and everything else left stock.
The boot mount holes are the same spacing on all Z1/900/1000 and 1100 aircooled engines ( except the B1 injection) so the earlier boots for those carbs will fit straight on the later J/GPZ style heads.
