Hey everyone, I have a 1976kz750 twin that is a chopper, I picked the bike up a few months ago, got it running and the idle was a bit high But was nothing crazy, I do remember the throttle plates would not fully close during the first rebuild and now I realize it's because I had them sitting wrong, they were pushed up too much on the throttle axle.

Anyways, it sat for a few months with the carbs off and didn't want to start so I went ahead and rebuilt them again, and now it starts within 6 kicks being cold, but the idle skyrockets instantly.

Here's what I've already checked

-no leaks from intake boots

-choke seals properly and no leaks from choke gasket

-no leaks from throttle axle

-throttle plates close but not perfectly sealed

-timing advance is not sticking and timing is set properly

Intake boot hoses are sealed

-choke is off

-idle screw is out

-diaphragms seal

-no gas leaks

-all jets are installed and havent been changed to a different size

-mixture screws are 3 turns out

I might have forgot some stuff but basically there's no leaks from the intake boots or carbs other than the throttle plates not sealing properly, and the ignition advance is not sticking and the timing is set properly. There's no backfiring and the Kickstart does not kickback except a tiny bit sometimes but it does not seem to be an actual issue.

Thankyou!
