Trying to dial in carbs. Purchased a brand new set of RS Flatslides. Could not figure out how these became so tough to dial in (just could not get them to snap back properly) Turns out after I installed New motion pro throttle cables there was a bad cast in the bell crank lever assembly and appears to be a crack in the spot right between the pull cable 1st and 2nd spot and now it cant sit in the second position. Cannot even begin to tell you how pissed I am. This is literally my 7th set of brand new RS Flatslides and have never experianced this before. Ordered a new bell crank lever assembly. This should be fun as I have never torn apart a new set of carbs. The place I bought them from last year basically told me to rub rocks...I guess that`s the price to pay when you save and buy parts for a build a year in advance. Unbelievable.

I’m not sure how good the quality control ever was on the RS production line.  I purchased a set of RS36s in the early 1990’s but only used them a tiny bit. I dusted them off a couple of years ago and when installing the replacement soft goods discovered that one of the float pins had actually been buckled when it was assembled at the factory. Needless to say with the float pin “towers” already being the Achilles Heel of these mine got broken (but eventually fixed).
