Airbox and air filter pods was created by Cfoux85
This may sound dumb and stupid but I was looking at my airbox and was wondering if anyone has tried putting the pods in the breather box while the pods connect to the carbs? The two outter pod filters will have to be smaller due to the space they have inside the airbox but wouldnt that help with cross wing and keeping them from getting wet?

It would be much easier and cheaper to just put a low restriction replacement filter in the factory box. K&N probably sells one.
To get the pods into the air box, you would have to modify the box and install something like straight velocity stacks so there would be something to install the pods on.
What is your goal?

There's no point in doing what you suggest and the result will most likely restrict the intake and overall performance.
Either use the stock air box and connecting hoses or remove the air box and fit QUALITY pods with the correct associated jetting and air correction changes to suit.
I run pods and also open velocity stacks on several Zeds and have never had any issues with cross winds or water ingress affecting performance in over 20 years of riding with that set up..

I was just wondering if it'd work or something. No goal just had the idea pop in my head

Ok. To do that with the filters attached to the carbs would not work since most of the filter would still be outside the air box. A member here modified a factory air box to accept velocity stacks. I think it was a brilliant idea, but I do not know of there was any real world benefit.
Like Zed1015, I have been running pods for quite a few years. with few complaints. I once got caught in some strong crosswinds on an interstate highway (gusting to 35 or 40 mph) and had some stumbling problems, that I mostly mitigated by repositioning my legs. I once got caught in a downpour so heavy that all the four-wheeled traffic was pulling off the highway and stopping. I finally managed to get off and under an overpass. We were soaked to the bone, but the bike never missed a beat. My worst experience was having two filters fall off. My bike has Keihin CVK carbs that have a very narrow lip for the filters. K&N filters are notoriously problematic on them, so I switched to APE filters, which have a better designed mounting flange.

Five years ago...the air box was modified to accept Mikuni velocity stacks, while maintaining it's original design purposes for the most part.
Stock air box width was increased 1.5"

Here's a shot of the plugs after 100+ miles. Purrs at idle, and runs like a champ with current jetting:
130 Mains
35 Pilots
1.1 Air Jets
Clip #2 Needle Slot
Fuel screws 1/8-1/4 Turn Out
