VM Fuel Tee's

I've made a fair number of fuel Tee's myself, whittling out the bits out of brass on a small lathe, but after seeing the sub $10 Tee's on ebay, I decided to buy a couple to see if they are any good.

Out of the box, the machine quality is truly outstanding.  They have a very smooth surface finish, and the O-ring grooves are radiused, instead of square edged like many OEM Tees.

With the stock (included) O-rings, they fit somewhat loosely into the carb body.  I think they need slightly fatter O-rings.

These Tee's are for VM's with a center feed fuel Tee, not for the KZ type VM's that use two small Tees.  What's good though, is there is enough metal to cut down these longer parts and convert them into the small Tees that are more common for KZ bikes.  I'm going to try one and see how it turns out.  Stay tuned...

Nice! It's pretty amazing what can be found these days for comparatively little money. The Yamaha XT250 was a 2-valve, single-cylinder, dual-purpose bike that was mechanically identical from 1980 to 1983: there is a guy in Thailand making full and partial stainless exhausts and stainless luggage racks for it. The full exhaust is $130 + shipping and the luggage rack is $70 + shipping.

Back on-topic... I went a slightly different route to feed the VMs: a Pingel petcock with a 1-into-2 fuel filter. It's probably a little excessive for a 440, but it's a silly little project so what the heck.

Conversion complete.  It worked out nicely.  Much easier than making a Tee from scratch...

Only his ebay store link: https://www.[ebay].com/str/thanita921chiangmaivintageparts

Web searching for "Chiangmai Vintage Parts" returns links to his ebay presence; it looks like he does not have another site.

Edit: I made a mistake - the full stainless exhaust is $170, not $130. Also there is a new, larger luggage rack.
