What condition are the carb mounts? Air cleaner on? Pods or stock air cleaner?

Did it run before the cleaning? Carb interior passages? Float height? Valves adjusted? Stock jets or "rebuild kit" jets?

When using pods, you have to rejet the carbs. I'm not an expert, but moving up 3 sizes on the main, lifting the needle a couple of notches, and opening up the pilot fuel screws to 2.25 turns open from lightly seated, will help.

You can pm zed1015, he sell air corrector Jets for vm carbs with pod filters. Once installed you stay with stock pilot jet and needle position. You only need to tune main, which still might involve moving the needle but they give you a great baseline to start off.
