Started digging into the bike this afternoon.  This is what I pulled out of the back of the airbox...service manual doesn't show this one.  Can I assume the foam element can be cleaned with a degreaser, rinsed & work a bit of motor oil into it before putting it back in service?

Yeah, it's intact...was pretty nasty but no little bits of foam in the sink after cleaning.

Yeah, and I used to have some back in the day...I've already oiled it.  One more question...is the back of the metal screen the foam is attached to supposed to have some kind of foam rubber to seal against the airbox?  Wait, nevermind...found what I needed to know.

Saw those looking around ebay too...I really would have liked ditching the airbox for individual filters but the bike runs so well as is & too many comments suggesting to avoid the headache.
