KZ550 TeiKei TK-22 Bogging

Hello

I have a KZ550C3 LTD 1982 model.

It has a 4-1 exhaust with original airbox

What mainjet and pilot jet do you recommend?

it is now a mainjet on #90 from earlyer owner.

It is bogging when driving, especially when full trottle and is hard to start when cold, when hot starts in 1 turn no problem.

KZR member loudhvx may have the info on his Motorcycle stuff page. see links in his signature of any of his posts. His page has tons of info about the KZ550 & TK22 carburetors.

I had a 1981 KZ550, or actually my wife did.  It was a very cold starting bike, requiring at least 10 minutes of idling to perform correctly.  Is your bogging problem always there or is it only in the first few minutes of a cold start?
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Hi

its bogging when hot, driving on both cruise and when trottle, probably midrange RPM
my RPM meter is broken.

it feels like its lean or something, i have ordered a OEM jetkit with #92 main jet so i did try to bore out the main i have now to 1mm just for experiment, it starts much faster and sound healthy at idle, but same problem in mid/top RPM

Found someone telling to try 1clip higher on needle, so im going to try that not

And after investigating on diameters and needle it looka like it is teikei TK-21 carbs
with specs same as 1981 kz550c1 west german

Check the ignition advance mechanism in the lower right hand crank-shaft end cover. The mechanism is "spring loaded" and should rotate freely and "snap" back to rest position.
lubricate it regularly.

With just an exhaust change you would barely need any jetting changes at all and if any then just a size up on the main and leave the pilots etc stock.
