You should fit air corrector jets -  Air corrector jets for Mikuni VM 24, 26 and 28mm round slide Mikunis. - KZRider Forum - KZRider, KZ, Z1 & Z Motorcycle Enthusiast's Forum
leave all other carb settings stock and go up a couple of sizes on the main jet..

In my experience you'll want to go up a few sizes on both your idle and main jets, and adjust your air mixture screw accordingly once the bike is warmed up (trial and error, test riding the bike with a little screw driver in your pocket). I wouldn't worry about messing with the slide needles until you dial in the rest, as the other adjustments may get you where you want to go.

If he installs the Air Corrector Jets, then the pilot Jets need to stay stock.

As already mentioned all the info is in this link as posted above -  Air corrector jets for Mikuni VM 24, 26 and 28mm round slide Mikunis. - KZRider Forum - KZRider, KZ, Z1 & Z Motorcycle Enthusiast's Forum
All the info you need is there for fitting etc plus comments and feedback from other forum members who use them.
Just PM me if you want a set or need any additional info that isn't covered in the above thread.
