Tick over

Hi, just had the Mikuni bs 34 carbs from my kz750n1 spectre rebuilt and fitted with keyster carb kits, once refitted the engine struggles when cold with the choke fully out , it ticks over at 1000 revs max, once warmed up the bike runs fine, what do I need to adjust to get the engine to tick over faster with the choke out? I had the carbs balanced when first refitted but I would be happier if tick over was 1500 revs or over. Thanks

1000 rpm idle sounds right.  1500 is way too fast.

Is the bike stock?  Where are the pilot screws set?  Did you remove the pilot screws when cleaning out the internal passages of the carbs?  Ungang the carbs so each carb body can be properly cleaned?  Are all the jets the stock sizes?  Adjust the pilot screws until the highest idle was achieved?

Hi, the carbs were sent to an engineering company who did a complete rebuild and set them up factory for a kz750 1982. Will adjusting the air screws help? I was referring to tick over with the choke fully out at 1000, it ticks over nicely at 1000 once warmed up but the choke doesn’t make the engine race at start up.
