Trust me, it will fix your high rpms!!! If you think so leave it as it isI didn't even notice that. Thank you! This probably won't fix the issue but never the less it needs to be fixed.

It definitely helped! Now it idles at 3000 and not 6000. Still gotta figure out how to get it even lower though

Yes the airbox is installed with new air filter. Do you think soaking the filter in sae 30 oil will help??

When you say filter inside air box do you mean there is supposed to be a filter inside the air box and inside the filter cap above the air box? I only have one filter and it is in the filter cap above the air box.

Did you sync the the carb butterflys by service manual?
Are both butterflys fully closed? a pic would help

Just to follow up on what Scirocco said, can you actually get to a point with the carbs on the bike where you can see the butterfly valves? If so, what position are they in? Open or closed? If open, how much are they open? From a personal standpoint, I have never seen a vacum leak cause a 3,000 RPM jump in engine speed, let alone a 6,000 RPM jump. Not unless you are feeding jet fuel into the vacum leak. Something else is going on with your carbs and I believe you need to go back to square #1 and bench syncing them. Then install and adjust. Just my humble opinion.

Update!! I took the carbs off, bench synced them and low and behold the ol girl fired right up! Idle is at a cool 1100 rpm! Took it out for a spin and it has great throttle response all around a smooth ride! Need to get some new tires and I think she's ready to hit the road!! Thank you all for your help!!

Great job! Maintenance for the WIN. Father Kawasaki (service manual) knows best!
BTW, now do a vacuum sync for the final tune.
