1978 KZ1000b Ltd  bought with no air box going to use pods for now .is there a small filter to put on crankcase vent  tube

Yes. K&N and I believe APE make them, but it is not needed. You can connect a piece of tubing to the separator, and run it over the battery and out the back somewhere, or over the frame crossmember and down in front of the swing arm pivot with the carb and battery hoses, or if you will be racing the bike, the sanctioning body may require a catch can. 

You are also going to have to re-jet and tune the carburetors to get the thing to run correctly.

Click on the Z1Enterprises ad above and type breather filter in the search box. You will fined several. Just for looks really.

Or you can run a tube back towards the swing arm or into a catch can if necessary.
